G.I. Joe Classifed Snake Eyes Repaint

I'm such a sucker. I really am. There is nothing that drastically different about this Snake Eyes to warrant actually buying it.

For those of you following the G.I. Joe Classified series, you probably already know that Hasbro is currently releasing repainted figures from the first wave. However, of them, Snake Eyes here is such a subtle change that I dare say it may not even qualify as a "repaint". More so a run change.

I say this, because if you look at the package, the real only change that people might notice, and I really do mean might, is that the knife is no longer packed in a tray to the side of the figure's head. Instead, it's been put in the sheath on his hip.

However, to see the oh so subtle change to the figure, let's zoom in on both the original and repainted version.

The original is on the left, and the repaint is on the right. Do you see it?  Can you point out the change?

The repaint, or at least mine, appears to be a flatter paint, as opposed to the original, which has a bit of a gloss to it. Especially on the head. However, the true change is the red dash above the visor. This is on the original, but removed from the repaint.

Other than that, no changes.

So tell me, is it worth twenty dollars to essentially buy the same figure that literally a small brush stroke has been removed from? Probably not. Not for most sane people.

  1. I think the excitement of seeing him in the wild might just be enough for me to pick him up again seeing as how I had to get my first figure off eBay. How are his joints? Any tighter?

    1. I think you're right. We're so starved with these products not on the shelves that I would probably buy one for the thrill of actually finding out in the wild.

    2. Pretty much what happened to me with Snake Eyes.

As for the joints and what not, I responded to this, but in a separate comment for some reason. See below.

  2. I didn't really check the joints closely, but the knife does go in and out of the sheath easier. However, there was a pretty big flaw on mine. The foot peg holes were not large enough to fit on a standard stand, which all the other figures are compatible with.

    3. Nice. Those Star Wars: Black Series stands look nice, too.

    4. They are all cross compatible...Except with this figure. They also work with Marvel Legends.

    5. This is also who I buy my Joe and Star Wars stands from for 3 3/4 figures, but they are two different sizes for them.
