The Last Jedi Home Video Release

If you're like me, going to the movie theater isn't a high priority on your list - Even for movies you really want to see. Take the most recent Star Wars entry, The Last Jedi, which was released on December 14, 2017. As big a Star Wars fan as I am, I didn't bother attempting to go the first week. In fact, it wasn't until December 24th that I finally go the opportunity to see the film.

Despite not liking the film, I immediately set to my next task of finding when it would be released on home video - Because as many of you know, I collect the home releases of Star Wars. I was shocked to see that in just four month's time the film is estimated to be released. Not only that, but you can already pre-order it from a couple of the big name retail chains.

Best Buy will apparently have not only the regular Blu-Ray / DVD / Digital Combo Pack, but also an Ultra HD Blu-Ray / DVD / Digital Combo Pack. If that weren't enough, the retail chain will also have an exclusive Steelbook version of both the regular and Ultra HD versions. It appears the only difference between the exclusive and standard releases is the actual Steelbook packaging.

Meanwhile, Target will also be selling an Exclusive version along the regular and HD combo packs. So far the only thing being advertised as exclusive to this release is forty page booklet which includes a behind-the-scenes look at the film with exclusive images.

Don't think for a second that Walmart will leave itself out of that game. Especially considering the chain has had their own exclusive release for the past two films, The Force Awakens and Rogue One. However, at this time they don't have anything listed on their site.

So, if you haven't seen the film yet - It may be worth waiting if you're just going to buy it.
