Title: The Amazing Spider-Man
Issue Number: 267
Release Date: August 1985
Highlights
- First appearance of Ron, AKA the Commuter, Scarsdale Police officers, Walter, and Steve, with other first appearances by Mona, Shana, Irving, Frieda, and Ralph
- First appearance of Mister Fred's Fashion Design
- Reference is made to Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man 103, and The Amazing Spider-Man 265
- Human Torch sees Spider-Man in his black suit, and is concerned that the symbiote has once again possessed him
- Spider-Man informs him that the black costume is from Black Cat, and while Johnny gushes over her, he's informed the two broke up
- Why is Spider-Man wasting a spidey tracer on a petty crook?
- This is nothing more than a villain of the week story, and I use the term villain very lightly (see above low point)
- Spider-Man webs a barking dog's mouth and nose shut - How is it supposed to breath? Mind you, it was a dog barking at him for trespassing in its master's yard
- So much unnecessary attempts at comedy
- Spider-Man attempts to shoot his web line upwards, but being in the suburbs, it connects to nothing - He's asked by a passing child if he wants to borrow her Big Wheel
- Spider-Man jumps upwards at a tree, gets his costume snagged, and somehow brings the tree crashing down
- Spider-Man is grabbed by a neighborhood watch homeowner, who puts him up against a car and frisks him
- Spider-Man attempts to hitch a ride on a passing bus, only for it to pull over, and the driver to demand money - When Spider-Man can't produce any, the next panel is of a bus speeding off with Spider-Man standing on the curb
- Spider-Man attempts to stop the fleeing crook, but in webbing his car only ends up in pulling the bumper off
- Spider-Man gives chase of the crook in a taxi, driven by a driver who only speaks Spanish
- Has Spider-Man become a joke to Marvel?
- These recent "comedic" issues are killing my desire to read Spider-Man
Oddities
- I ask again - Has Spider-Man become a joke to Marvel?
