Limited Edition Masters Of The Universe Heroes Vs. Villains Gummies - Huer

While walking through my local Safeway, I came across an endcap that caught my eye. Mainly because of its familiar package from my youth. I knew right away it was Masters Of The Universe related, but what, I wasn't sure. As I got in closer, I discovered that what was before me was a display full of pouches housing Huer brand gummies.

Naturally I wanted to take a bag (or ten) home with me, but that was when I noticed the price. Regularly priced, these were $4.99 a pouch. Safeway was feeling "generous" and had them on sale for 2 for $7.00.

Getting the bags home, I popped one open to see if the gummies looked just like they showed on the package. I mean, kind of. The Evil-Lyn and Power Sword are probably the most accurate. Though I'm not honestly understanding why they would do Evil-Lyn. It would seem more appropriate to cast Skeletor's Havoc Staff to mirror the Power Sword of He-Man.

What kind of miffed me was that there was only one Skeletor in the pouch, but five of all the others. That's bogus!

Flipping the bag over, it gives you information on each of the gummies flavor, He-Man being orange, the Power Sword being strawberry, blueberry for Evil-Lyn, and grape / lemon for Skeletor. While He-Man definitely had his flavor going on, the Power Sword tasted more like cherry to me, and Evil-Lyn more like grape. As for Skeletor, I unfortunately didn't get to try him. More on that below.

What I will say is that they have a very thick syrupy flavor, laden with sugar. It leaves a rather unpleasant aftertaste in the back of your throat. Overall, pretty awful. I can't believe I used to eat this type of stuff as a kid.

The other side of the back of the package tells you just how unhealthy these are for you. With three servings in each container, this isn't what we'll call good for you (on any level). Further, with how bad they are, it's not worth the calories. I definitely would not buy these again.

Being a collector first, I did do what collector's do. I collected. My second, unopened bag, got vacuum sealed, and the set of four gummies from the bag I opened also got that treatment. Will these last on my shelf? Well, time will tell. But as you can see, this is why I ultimately didn't get to try the Skeletor one.

Collectors gonna collect!

If you're a He-Man fan, I would definitely recommend grabbing come bags for your collection. However, if you're looking for a tasty snack with a nostalgic flare, while these hit the latter mark, the flavor is horrible. Still, this was fun to pick up and add to my ever expanding and overstuffed shelves.

Being limited, I'm not sure how long these will be around, but I don't suspect it will be long past the movie's release in theaters. For now, the Safeway near me had an entire display full of them. They're not exactly flying off shelves, and I suspect that's mainly driven by the price point. They're far pricier than they should be, and don't really deliver on the value.

Kit Kat: Limited Edition Blueberry Muffin

Kit Kat launches yet another limited edition flavor, and one that just so happens to be my favorite kind of muffin, blueberry.

I don't honestly eat candy often. However, when I do, Kit Kat's are definitely my all time go-to. So when I saw these tempting blueberry muffin limited edition treats, I grabbed a couple packs for the road.

Now, admittedly, I'm a little weird when it comes to eating chocolate. I won't just open the pack and dig in. Instead, mine take, at minimum, a day in the freezer. I like my candy frozen, and crunchy.

The pictures of this bar don't do it justice. I'm not sure what happened in the photograph, but these sticks are not brown. Rather, they do indeed have the blueish hue as seen on the package.

Chomping off a bit of a stick, the blueberry muffin taste is predominant, and 100% all in. There is no doubt what this flavor is supposed to be. The wafer is crispy, giving it that Kit Kat mouthfeel. All and all, it was rather enjoyable.

After finishing the bar, which admittedly I ate in one sitting, I started to notice something rather undesirable. The blueberry flavor was not leaving my mouth, and it was quite pungent and harsh. It honestly detracted from the overall enjoyment of eating it. This was a shame, because the bar itself was good, but the after effect very undesirable.

This is definitely one to try, but in moderation to potentially avoid the aftertaste.

***UPDATE***

Smaller, or standard sized "bars" definitely help with the aftertaste, which also grew on me with subsequent bars.

Surfing With The Alien 20th Anniversary Guitar (Ibanez)

Surfing With The Alien 20th Anniversary Guitar
Ibanez
2008

No, don't worry. This website isn't going to turn into one that documents musical instruments. This is a rare and special occasion where I want to take a look at one specifically for its iconic representation. Check it out!

Isn't that awesome! That's the Silver Surfer, all decked out in 3D goodness. Many of you may recognize it from the cover of Joe Satriani's 1987 album, Surfing With The Alien.

Those youngsters out there scratching their heads, and asking, "Who is Joe Satriani (and Silver Surfer)? Well, many of you kiddies have heard Joe, you just don't know it. His song, Always With Me, Always With You, which just so happens to be on this album, was the tune played during the season eight, episode five of American Dad, Why Can't We Be Friends. It's the song that Steve air guitars to Snot, and I know you know what I'm talking about when I reference that.

As for the guitar, the Ibanez Limited Edition JS20TH Joe Satriani 20th Anniversary Signature Model solidbody electric guitar commemorates 20 years of collaboration between the legendary guitarist and Ibanez. It features stunning graphics straight from the album, showcasing a special 3-D Silver Surfer inlay. You also get DiMarzio PAF Pro and Fred humbucking pickups, a JS Prestige neck, and an Edge trem on the Ibanez Limited Edition JS20TH Joe Satriani 20th Anniversary Signature Model.

Basically, it's six strings of awesome.

While it was limited to just 300 pieces, you can still pick one up for around $500.00, which isn't bad for a guitar. I mean, it's not going to be an amazing instrument to play on, when compared to your high end Les Paul's, Martins', or Fender's. But, it will definitely raise questions when people see you jammin' on that axe.

Mr. Clean (Noveltoy)

Mr. Clean
Noveltoy
2000

I had a chance to nab one of these limited edition Mr. Clean dolls up at my March 2017 visit to the Dave Hart Toy Show. I passed it up even though it was only $15.00 and kind of regret doing so. While I'm by no means a fan of Mr. Clean or cleaning in general, there was something to this doll which was unique and called, "Please bring me home." A call I ignored.

Limited to just 100,000 if you are a fan of having a plastic mascot of your own powerful and dependable cleaning product which makes tough jobs easier, then perhaps you too should seek out your own Mr. Clean from Noveltoy.

The doll has very minimal articulation, limited to only the neck and arms turning in 360 degree motions. It's by no means meant to target the audience of major collectors and I dare say these more so sold as gag gifts to people.

There is of course that allure to the impulsive buyer of, "Wait, it's a limited edition!" Yes, that is true. However, so are all of those plates and coins you bought out of the local newspaper back in the mid 80's. How many of those are turning a profit for you?

Still, it's fun, charming and in a way its own conversation piece. I suppose in hindsight I wish I would have been one of those impulsive buyers and gone ahead and nabbed the guy. If for nothing else, it would have made a great gag gift to pass on to someone else.
