Highlights

• First appearance of Dirk, Daphne, and Granetti's henchmen, Chester, and Jackson
• Janet tells Spider-Man that they can't protect all of NEVELL their entire lives - Then quickly corrects herself, and says that even if they could, she won't
• Spider-Man heads to the dock to stop Granetti's men, but it's a ruse - The crates only have grapefruits in them
• Before the fight, Spider-Man tells two kids to break up their date, and head home - They don't listen, and the boy gets shot
• Spider-Man races the wounded kid to the hospital, while Paladin follows suit with his uninjured date on foot
• Wasp heads to the airport to stop Granetti's second wave of men, but this too is a ruse - The teddy bears are stuffed full of plain sugar

Low Points

• Spider-Man heads to Avenger's headquarters, and proceeds to act like a baby throwing a temper tantrum because Janet, AKA Wasp, hasn't come come since their run in with Paladin last issue
• I don't understand why people tout Peter David's era of Spider-Man to be so great - I haven't read one yet that's wowed me

• Cool one-pager Cracker Jacks add starring Scottie
• Reference is made to Captain America 264, 268, Defenders 102, and 104
• An ad for Moondance Comics out of Vermont - You could get a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man 121 and 122 for just $20.00 each - That would be a steal these days
• Captain America, Nick Fury, and Trapster in a Hostess Fruit Pies ad

Low Points

• It's the start of a four part story arc, and included in Spider-Man's chronological reading order, but he doesn't actually make an appearance in this issue

Oddities

• Captain America is put in chains, and is left with his shielf - This is twice I've seen that in a Marvel issue
• Editor's Day Off: A disguised Dr. Strange says, "Then there is some plan afoot to launch us into war as the orb of of Attunement intimated!"

• Editor's Continued Day Off / Major Plot Hole: Masters says he's the only one who knows how to deactivate the destruct sequence which Kyle input into the system - Kyle then tells Doctor Strange he has to stay behind to ensure nothing happens to the sequence before detonation, then Doctor Strange teleports all the other heroes out, leaving Kyle and Masters behind
• EXCEPT - If Masters is the only person who knows how to deactivate the self destruct, then Doctor Strange could have easily teleported him and Kyle out as well, and walla - Nobody left behind who can deactivate the self destruct, and Kyle doesn't have to self sacrifice

• We skip over Marvel Team-Up 104 and 105, which don't feature Spider-Man

Oddities

• No explanation is given as to how Scorpion has the mechanical knowhow to upgrade his tail into a gun
• Steve Rogers looks weird without his costume on

• Editor's Continued Day Off: Scorpion says, "The time has has come for Jamison...To die!"

• Steve Rogers ducks behind a file cabinet to change into his Captain America outfit, and while he does, he has his shield with him - Where was he hiding that?

• Scorpion, per Captain America, is stronger and faster than him? Really? I didn't know that, and never would have thought so

Highlights

• Brief appearance by Doctor Curtis Connor
• Harry Osborn continues to recover from his drug abuse
  
• Gwen and Peter visit Flash, who is not the same since returning from Vietnam

Low Points

• Spencer Smythe is at it again. Very boring and one dimensional character
• Another spider slayer story...great
• The story would have been more interesting if it focused on what happened to Flash in Vietnam, vs. wasted space on a cliffhanger spider slayer story. Hopefully this thread is revisited in later issues
  

Oddities

• Spider-Man uses Doctor Connor's lab to make a mask of Peter Parker's face - Huh? Why would a scientist have this kind of material, and where did Peter Parker learn to sculpt a perfect likeness of himself?
• Spider-Man just happens to know when Smythe will be viewing his cameras to hold up the fake mask of his face?
