M. Night Shyamalan showed the world just how little he knew (or possibly cared) about the source material when he released the critical disaster The Last Airbender. The film enraged fans of the animated series, and despite positive box office sales, Hollywood knew that the film was not well received.
Relatively unknown toy manufacturer, Spin Master, was eager to join the ranks of action figure developers, and unfortunately for them they latched on to toys based on the film. Sales were horrible, and as such merchandise was quickly shuffled to clearance isles as stores such as Toys R' Us and Target took drastic steps to offload stock.

The film was a disaster, the toys were a disaster, and these days you can't even give them away let alone try and sell them. Most auctions on ebay starting at $5.00 to $7.00 for each figure typically end with zero bids.

Durham Industries Kung Fu dolls from the 1970's is an interesting piece to say the least. Though it strikingly resembles a young John Saxon (Enter the Dragon, A Nightmare On Elm Street), the figure was in no shape or form licensed to be based on the actor.This one shot figure sported a karate gi, and shockingly enough nothing else in terms of clothing - Not even pants. A kick and chop motion was implemented into the toy for play. Essentially these were buttons that would release the spring loaded arm or leg to chop or kick.
These eight inch dolls are by no means common in terms of secondary markets, but they have been known to float around in both loose and MIB condition. Though many sellers seem to think this doll should value at around $40.00 for one new in the box, most collectors seem only willing to drop $15.00 at the most.

We also recently found Durham Industries had also produced a Yung Gun Fu figure.

John Lennon - Beatle, rock icon, legendary song writer, and plastic NECA toy. Does that about sum it up?
John Lennon was one of the key founding members of the Beatles, the UK band that went on to revolutionize rock and roll music, and have a legion of fans following them every step of the way. The band produced hit after hit between 1960 and 1970, and when they disbanded suddenly, many people were left wondering where to turn next. To many, The Beatles were everything.
Lennon continued to write and perform music, but did so as a solo act, or in accompaniment of his wife Yoko Ono. Unfortunately his life was cut short in 1980 when he was murdered in the streets by Mark David Chapman.
Though Lennon has been honored many times over since his career started, action figure fans were excited to do so in their own way when NECA released the six and eighteen inch versions of John Lennon The New York Years. The detail in the sculpt captured Lennon perfectly from the infamous photo of the same name.

It's always tragic when someone's life is cut short by a cold blooded murderer, but for those few individuals who achieve public status such as John Lennon, their loss impacts an entire world. Though a great loss, we are fortunate that he left behind his music.
