Durham Industries Kung Fu dolls from the 1970's is an interesting piece to say the least. Though it strikingly resembles a young John Saxon (Enter the Dragon, A Nightmare On Elm Street), the figure was in no shape or form licensed to be based on the actor.This one shot figure sported a karate gi, and shockingly enough nothing else in terms of clothing - Not even pants. A kick and chop motion was implemented into the toy for play. Essentially these were buttons that would release the spring loaded arm or leg to chop or kick.
These eight inch dolls are by no means common in terms of secondary markets, but they have been known to float around in both loose and MIB condition. Though many sellers seem to think this doll should value at around $40.00 for one new in the box, most collectors seem only willing to drop $15.00 at the most.

We also recently found Durham Industries had also produced a Yung Gun Fu figure.

John Lennon - Beatle, rock icon, legendary song writer, and plastic NECA toy. Does that about sum it up?
John Lennon was one of the key founding members of the Beatles, the UK band that went on to revolutionize rock and roll music, and have a legion of fans following them every step of the way. The band produced hit after hit between 1960 and 1970, and when they disbanded suddenly, many people were left wondering where to turn next. To many, The Beatles were everything.
Lennon continued to write and perform music, but did so as a solo act, or in accompaniment of his wife Yoko Ono. Unfortunately his life was cut short in 1980 when he was murdered in the streets by Mark David Chapman.
Though Lennon has been honored many times over since his career started, action figure fans were excited to do so in their own way when NECA released the six and eighteen inch versions of John Lennon The New York Years. The detail in the sculpt captured Lennon perfectly from the infamous photo of the same name.

It's always tragic when someone's life is cut short by a cold blooded murderer, but for those few individuals who achieve public status such as John Lennon, their loss impacts an entire world. Though a great loss, we are fortunate that he left behind his music.

Disney banked hard on the 1990 Dick Tracy film starring pretty much everyone they could find in Hollywood at the time to play a role. The cast was a power house ensemble of big names including Warren Beatty, Dick Van Dyke, Dustin Hoffman, James Caan, Kathy Bates, Madonna, Al Pacino and Catherine O'Hara. With its unique sets built from the ground up, fantastic mat paintings and backdrops and music by Danny Elfman, Stephen Sondheim and Madonna, one would expect nothing short of a blockbuster hit.
Part of the marketing for the film involved a massive line of action figures from Playmates Toys - Fourteen of them to be exact, and two vehicles.
What was surprising about the line was that there were no duplicate figures. Each one was a different character - Though it was disappointing that we only got a Dick Tracy figure without his famous yellow coat.

Before you rush into buying Dick Tracy figures, you need to make sure you're ready for the investment. While most of the figures will cost you between fifteen and twenty-five dollars, obtaining The Blank is going to set you back anywhere from $500.00 to $1,000.00. It was short packed in cases when the series first hit store shelves, and since then has only gotten more scarce. Believe it or not, it's even more difficult to find one loose than it is to find one in the package.

Though it was met with mostly positive reviews, The box office dollars that followed weren't sufficient in Disney's eyes to warrant a sequel. It was probably for the best as Beatty soon found himself in a head butting match with Tribune Media Services - The company in which Beatty originally purchased the film and TV rights from in 1985. Tribune was accused of underhandedly attempting to regain the rights back, and from it came a lawsuit that would last almost a decade (2002 - 2011). In 2011 a district court judge ruled that Beatty had fulfilled his obligations ensuring he would retain the rights. Since then Beatty claims a sequel will see the light of day in the future, but says he won't discuss anything further because it's, "Dumb talking about movies before you make them."
