  • First battle between Spider-Man and Spot
  • First appearance of the cloth black and white Spider-Man suit
  • Spot gains an understanding of how his spotted form works
  • Reference is made to Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man 96
  • Spot considers not telling Kingpin about his powers, thinking they shouldn't be shared
  • Peter meets his new neighbors, Candi, Randi, and Bambi
  • Sha Shan comes to see Peter, and he promises he'll find out what's going on with Flash Thompson
  • Flash witnesses the interaction from a distance, concluding that Peter is messing around with his girl
  • Peter confides in Joe Robertson that he's having all kinds of issues with life, which are now messing up his work for the Bugle, Robertson tells him not to be so hard on himself
  • Joe in turn apologizes for giving Peter such a hard time as of late, and says it's because of the strain on him as the new editor-in-chief of the paper, and nothing Peter did
  • Black Cat sews, and gives Spider-Man a cloth version of his symbiote suit, but it freaks him out, and he refuses to wear it
  • Black Cat begins to think that Spider-Man and her aren't meant to be, not happy with him constantly trying to change who she is / was
  • Spider-Man and Black Cat head to Kingpin's headquarters to confront the man about the debt Cat owes him
  • The symbiote ensnares an unnamed man from Arizona visiting New York, and takes control of his body
  • When Spider-Man hears the Spot's name, he laughs in his face
  • Spider-Man realizes that his spider senses don't warn him in time about Spot's attacks because they aren't a threat until they materialize through the holes
  • Regardless, Spider-Man considers the villain weak, stating he hits so soft that he wouldn't hurt a Smurf
  • Though unhurt, Spider-Man technically loses the battle, unable to land one punch on Spot

  • Ah, the good ol' Marvel way - Spider-Man and Machine Man start fighting each other instead of talking to discover they're on the same side
  • Gears Garvin installs a propeller on Machine Man's head to make him able to fly faster - He looks as stupid as it sounds
  • Wait...Baron Brimstone and Sandman kidnap Pamela Quinn to lure Machine Man to the Baron so that he can have his revenge...but Machine Man is already there trying to stop them from kidnapping her...Just do your thing right there and then, and avoid the whole kidnapping plot

  • Appearances from TV's Ed McMahon and Johnny Carson
Low Points
  • Nothing happens in this issue. You could skip it all together and not miss a single thing - That's how irrelevant it feels
Oddities
  • Spider-Man is told to be back before midnight to film a show with Carson, and from there goes to Gwen's home to have dinner? After midnight is a bit later for dinner - Did Stan the Man forget that he stamped the issue with a time?
