*SNIFF*
Mmm...Smells like there's a convention in the air. Well, if you jump back in your time machine, and head back to September 20 - 22, 2024 for Baltimore Comic Con.
Arriving around 8:00 AM, for a 10:00 AM opening, I was shocked to find no line outside. Everyone had already been shuffled inside to queue up for wrist bands, and even then, the lines were slim. I was able to walk to the front of a queue, and get through it so quickly that I became the second person in the official line off to the side.
My buddy and driver, Dave Braun, sat behind me, as number three. His role throughout the show, much like prior times, would be to stand in long lines while I went off to mop up signatures at faster tables. His role played out perfectly at two specific lines. I dare say without him at one line, I would have missed out completely for the day, but more on that in a later post.
His other "job" was to take photos of the show, to which he immediately set to task on in line. Though the majority of his photos were of people, he did grab a select few props he saw. He didn't take any photos of the showroom floor, and I don't blame him. That place was a madhouse, making that pretty difficult to do.
There were many Deadpool's at the show. This guy was one of the few who look like they built their suit, versus buying it from a party shop. |
This guy is dressed as Prince from the Batdance music video. He was blasting the track from the boombox in his hand. |
Slimer! |
A family who dressed up as Jubilee, Wolverine, and Strom |
Captain Jack Sparrow - This guy came prepared with the accent and voice down pat. He was a favorite among the kids. |
Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz |
A female Ghostbuster stood with Batgirl |
Mario and Princess Peach |
There's always someone dressed as Krampus |
The people in line with Dave shook their heads at him as he shouted, trying to get the attention of "Joker" as he passed. Sigh...He's learning. |
I don't know what costume this was |
Avengers assemble! |
A young Harry Potter made his way through the convention with his family |
Another Mario! I saw one Luigi, but I guess neither of us opted to grab a photo |
Scarlett Witch |
Of course, someone was there as a Mandalorian. However, overall, it was surprising that not too many people were sporting Star Wars garb. |
Poison Ivy |
There were a lot of people in costumes. However, these were the ones he felt were the best of the bunch.
When the showroom opened, we were ushered across the lobby, and through the doors. From there, chaos erupted as people scrambled for the respective lines they were looking to join. As for me, I set off to find some vendors. My first plan was to grab a few comics I was on the hunt for. I managed to snag two of them right away, but after checking several more tables, the search for the remaining two seemed hopeless. Conceding, I made my way to the first line I was searching for, only to receive some very annoying news.
Boy, what a cliffhanger to end on! It won't be until part seven until I come back to that.
