With the 25th anniversary of Edward Scissorhands just around the corner, we felt it appropriate to drop a little nod towards the cult classic Tim Burton film.

Released in December of 1990, the movie was immediately met with positive reviews from critics around the USA. Burton was praised for his modern take on Frankenstein, while Depp was praised for his ability to fully engross himself in the character as an actor.

Despite its massive popularity, Edward Scissorhands did not follow with a multitude of products such as toys, or trinkets. In fact, options remained fairly limited in general.

In 2006, Mezco released a small series of figures. It featured three versions of Edward, and one of The Professor. Sadly, this would be all for the entire run - If you don't include the four pack of Mez-Its.

The white shirt Edward was a Hot Topic exclusive, while the ice sculpture version was a SDCC exclusive. To date, these two remain the more difficult versions to track down. Despite this, the entire line can be found for around ten dollars for each figure.

Beyond that, there's not much more we can really say on this particular line.

What was then known to be the final chapter of a trilogy, At World's End wrapped up the story arc of Bootstrap Bill and his son Legol....Er...Will Turner. With over the top action scenes and CGI amassing the screen, confusion was certainly a big part of the film - for us anyway.

2007 marked the last line of Pirates of the Caribbean figures to date for NECA, and they sent the series off with kind of a "ho-hum". Yes, we did finally get Ragetti and Pintel figures, but the rest of the series seemed uninspired, to the point of almost being boring.

Eight figures hit store shelves in 2007, and were quickly moved to clearance isles over the course of the next few months.

We loved the first Pirates movie, but the remaining sequels seemed to get more and more confusing and convoluted to the point that we didn't even know what was going on. Depp does a fantastic job as Jack Sparrow, and Geoffrey Rush is nothing to scoff at for Captain Barbosa. But, the story - That story is just so confusing. It seemed almost like nobody at Disney was expecting the movie to be that big of a success, so when it took off they were like, "Uh oh, someone grasp at some straws and write a sequel." Then when the sequel was no good they were like, "Uh oh, now we're stuck in the middle of this terrible story arc that we have to finish if we're going to make a third one." It's part of the reason we have little to no doubt that this is why the majority of the "main" cast suddenly disappeared from the fourth film. We don't see that one as a sequel so much as a non-advertised reboot.

This of course is all personal opinion, and if you like the movie, well, that's cool. In the long run, we really just want to talk about the toys.

Much like the first film, NECA was more than happy to produce a series of figures to coincide with its release in 2006. They produced three series in total which equated to twelve figures. The only real shame was that each series included an all new Jack Sparrow and we once again wouldn't be seeing Ragetti or Pintel figures (the true stars of the film - okay maybe not).

Sleepy Hollow which hit theaters in 1999 was met with average critical reviews which called the movie pretty, and praised Depp for his ability to disappear into the role of any character (Roger Ebert). Tim Burton certainly has a flair for the odd which translates well into his movies.

McFarlane Toys followed the release of the film with a very small series of figures. Three figures to be exact with two variant packages. The series included The Crone, Ichabod Crane with both an opened and closed bag, and The Headless Horseman, one with a skull head and one with Christopher Walken's head. It's key to note that if you're opening these items than these variants mean nothing as the bag packaged with Ichabod can be opened or closed no matter which version you buy, and The Headless Horseman comes with both heads that are interchangeable. In short, these variants will only be important to mint in package collectors.

A unique item to the series was the deluxe The Headless Horseman which also came with his horse. The packaging itself was fantastic with the window box being given the impression of fog rolling through it.

These days you can hardly give the toys away let alone sell them. We've seen a ton of full sets of the carded figures priced at about fifteen dollars, and they don't get so much as a single bid. The only piece that does seem to sell is the deluxe boxed set which we've seen go for as much as $70.00.

In the early new millennium, Disney attempted to make it big on movies based on their rides.  Their first - The Pirates of the Caribbean, and what a smash success it was - Unlike the latter film, The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy.

Since its release, the series has seen a total of four films with a rumored fifth and sixth in the works.  Let's face it - Johnny Depp fills movie theater seats, and Disney knows this - Though latter installments got paper thin in the plot department.

In 2004, NECA grabbed a slice of the Pirates pie with its series of figures based on the first film.  Three waves in total were released, as well as one box set, and a handful of other non related merchandise.
