Highlights

• First appearance of Willard Stein, and Gunther Stein
• This is a fill-in story, which takes place prior to the events of Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man 88
• Brothers Willard and Gunther are breaking in to train cars, and Spider-Man steps in to stop them
• Gunther shoots at him, hitting a tank labeled "chemical waste", which between the liquid and fumes gets on Spidey
• After capturing the two, Willard gives Spider-Man a fake sob story about a wife and kids, and he gets let go
• Gunther, on the other hand, is taken to the police
• The next day, Peter is still suffering from a migraine, caused by the chemicals
• Peter sees on the news that both Willard and Gunther hit a charity event the previous day, and got away with $50,000
• As Spider-Man attempts to interrogate some thugs at Josie's Bar, his head blazes with pain
• Fortunately the cops show up before the thugs can take advantage of the situation
• Willard returns to his apartment to find Gunther waiting with a gun - He tries to kill Willard, but decides he's going to have fun with the whole thing, and let's the scared man run
• Willard runs an ad in the Bugle begging Spider-Man for help
• As Gunther continues to torment Willard by just appearing around him, Peter see's the ad in the paper
• Seeing the ad himself, Gunther ambushes Willard, but Spider-Man does show up, and takes care of the would be killer
• Spider-Man tells Willard that there's still a matter of the money, and he ultimately does the right thing, confessing, returning the money, and implicating Gunther with him
• Days later, the effects of the chemicals wear off

• Pointless

Oddities

• As Peter continues to be ill from the chemicals, his biggest concern is that it's affecting his spidey sense - Not that he might die or anything from being dowsed in hazardous chemical waste

Comics Corner: Ka-Zar The Savage 26

   

Title: Ka-Zar The Savage

Highlights

• First appearance of Mr. Markham, Billy Markham, and Linda
• Death of Dr. Mason
• Ka-Zar keeps attacking Spider-Man because he won't tell him were Shanna is
• Reference is made to Ka-Zar the Savage 23, 24, and 25
• Spider-Man explains to a calmed down Ka-Zar why he can't see Shanna
• Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Zabu make it back to the Savage Land, but before he and his girl can formally reunite, he colapses in front of the catatonic Shanna
• In a cliffhanger ending, Zabu brings Buth to the two in hopes of saving them

Low Points

• One more Ka-Zar story to go

Oddities

• After explaining to Ka-Zar that he can't see Shanna, Spider-Man then takes Ka-Zar to Shanna
• Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Zabu are flown back to the Savage Land by a child named Billy, who is going on his first solo flight to get his license - But then the story proceeds to say that the plan fills up several times during the flight - who paid for the gas?

Comics Corner: Spider-Woman 26

   

Title: Spider-Woman

Highlights

• First appearance of Rupert Dockery, and Grinder
• Spider-Woman saves Dockery from being kidnapped, but it's all just a ruse for the publisher to sell more papers
• Reference is made to Spider-Woman 20

Low Points

• Boring, and poorly written - Spider-Man is in this issue for all of three panels, reduced to nothing more than a wasted cameo
• Still not a fan of having to read non-related Spider-Man titles to get the full chronological story of the character, and as noted above, this is only a cameo, making it not even worth while

Oddities

• Dockery walks into a bar, meets with a criminal, and says he wants to write an expose on his villainous exploits...Odd how a criminal would make himself so easily accessible...to a news outlet...and be agreeable to the story - Terrible writing

Low Points

• Kind of slow paced
• Spider-Man spends the entire issue wandering around the city blind

Oddities

• The Masked Marauder says he's spent months in prison workshops heightening the power of his opt-blasts - Not a very good prison if he can spend his time perfecting weapons
• They once again call the box truck a van
• Editor's Day Off - There's are multiple panels where Spider-Man's lenses are red

Title: The Amazing Spider-Man

Highlights

• First appearance of Crime-Master
• Green Goblin returns 
• Peter Parker attacks not only Flash, but all of his friends - AT THE SAME TIME!
• Peter buys a second hand Spider-Man costume because he doesn't have a suit - wardrobe malfunctions follow
• First appearance of Patch
• Though the comic series has had continuous continuity since the first issue, this is the first actual cliffhanger ending

Low Points

• Story tries to set it up so that Frederick Foswell is the Crime-Master, but it's painfully obvious he's not - Though by the end of the issue we still don't know who is

Oddities

• Silenced weapons go, "Thwok!" in Marvel Comics
