Title: Marvel Team-Up
Issue Number: 140
Release Date: April 1984

Highlights

  • First appearance of Juan Santiago, and Howard "Cool Breeze" McNeal
  • First appearance, and death of Jack Zelnick
  • A blackout has occurred in New York, and crime has run rampant
  • During a robbery of his pawn shop, the owner is shot and killed before Spider-Man can stop the shooter
  • Juan Santiago is framed by his ex-gang members for shooting the pawnbroker
  • Reference is made to The Amazing Spider-Man 250, and 251
  • Spider-Man disappears in a flash of light in Central Park, tying this ending to that of The Amazing Spider-Man 251
The gun found during the battle with the gang doesn't match the ballistics of the one that killed the pawn broker - Juan Santiago's case doesn't look like it will end well for the youth
  • Daredevil vows to keep his promise to prove Juan is innocent
Low Points
  • I'm still working through the timeline of events, but I'll have it in just two more issues
  • With exception of the epilogue, the events of this issue are completely immaterial
