• First appearance of Reno Candelario, Freddy, Dumbo, Ms. Kwan, Mr. Garrison, Mr. Tong, Mr. Lisle, Ms. Han, Bob, and Ray
• Reference is made to Web Of Spider-Man 6
• With his suit being laundered, Peter is forced to battle against a bunch of thugs as himself in the middle of a laundromat
• Word of Peter's heroics spread fast, and soon make their way to the Bugle
• The community forms, "Peter Parker Patrols", a neighborhood watch of sorts, and this doesn't sit well with Peter or the Bugle
• Ricardo's brother, Hector, makes a surprise appearance at their home, and Hector finds out he's a hitman for the mob
• Hector wants to be like his brother, but his brother tells him he's a loser, and he should find a real life for himself helping their mother
• Across town, Freddy's dad is lighting him up with a belt, yelling at him for lying, stealing, and dropping out of school
• The thugs keep breaking into Peter's apartment, first leaving a note knifed to his pillow, then rats in his fridge
• Peter seeks advice from Flash on how to deal with bullies, and Flash is shocked as to why, explaining he wasn't a bully in school, instead he only razzed Parker because he never wanted to join in any of the social gatherings, even though everyone always asked him
• When Spider-Man comes to the aid of Peter, and confronts the bullies, this only sets them off more, and they set Peter's apartment on fire, goading him to fight his own battles

Low Points

• Really? Spider-Man versus a bunch of street bullies? Does this really have to be a two part cliffhanger ending? Just punch their eyes out the back of their heads, and call it a day

Oddities

• Editor's Day Off: Panels with Spider-Man's lenses colored red

Comics Corner: Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars 11

    

Title: Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars
Issue Number: 11
Release Date: March 1985

Highlights

• First appearance of the Foundations of Eternity
• Doctor Doom is completely healed from all damage to his body which not only occurred during his fight with the Beyonder, but for all time before, including his face
• Doom once again states the Beyonder is dead, and proclaims himself to be the strongest entity in all universes
• Enraged by his trechery, Molecular Man tosses the heroes aside, and confronts Doom one on one
• Rather than destroy Molecule Man, Doom opens his mind, freeing him from doubt and despair
• As Doom vanishes, Molecule Man tells the villains he will lead them now
• The villains take refuge in the section of planet comprised of a chuck of Denver, where the new Spider-Woman, Volcana, and Titania came from
• Molecule Man uses his powers to rip the chunk of Denver from the planet, and lifts it into space, determined to take it back to Earth
• Colossus secretly departs the base, heading back the Zsaji
• A mysterious beam enters the base, and zaps the Hulk, sending him walking mindlessly through the corridors
• When Spider-Woman tries to stop Hulk, the energy beam leaves him, and enters her
• Doom infiltrates the base, and takes Klaw's body, and even returns Captain Marvel back to normal
• Doom leaves behind a literal engraved invitation, summoning the heroes to his tower tomorrow at dusk
• Colossus tells Zsaji he loves her
• Wolverine and Nightcrawler talk about Colossus
• Nightcrawler can't believe that Colossus is being unfaithful to Katya
• Wolverine says that it's a side effect from her healing powers
• The heroes accept Doom's invitation, and go to his tower
• Doom says he cannot make up for all his past evil because that would destroy the space time continuum, but he can make things right from recent events
• Doom resurrects Kang, and returns him to his home
• He then tells the heroes that Galactus has already been aided by his herald, Nova
• Reference is made to Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars 4, and 10
• Doom tells the heroes he will grant them all anything they desire
• The heroes decide they don't want anything from Doom
• Doom tells the heroes to leave then, and never come into his presence again, or he will destroy them
• As the group leaves, they realize Spider-Woman isn't with them
• Despite Doom's warning, Captain America goes back in for her, only to walk right into Doom and Klaw
• The beam of light which was still within Spider-Woman transfers to Klaw, leaving the hero lying on the ground unconscious 
• After speaking further with Doom, Klaw tells him that Spider-Woman is in the hall sleeping, adn they leave
• Captain America informs all the heroes that they must confer, and all must make a decision 
• That decision is to leave Doom alone, or fight, and attempt to strip him of his ultimate power
• When all the heroes agree to fight, they are suddenly blasted by a massive explosion out of nowhere - Doom heard them speaking
• All the heroes die in an instant

Comics Corner: The Incredible Hulk Annual 11

   

Title: The Incredible Hulk Annual

Highlights

• Spider-Man chronological reading tie in story
• The story opens with Bruce Banner actively trying to transform into the Hulk, and it's touted as the first time he's tried to willingly do so
• The story is noted as taking place prior to Hulk gaining the intelect of Bruce Banner, as seen in current issues of The Incredible Hulk
• First appearance of Dr. Rikky Keegan
• All kinds of guest appearances show up in this book - Spider-Man, Thor, Dr. Strange, the Fantastic Four, Captain America, Iron Man, Yellow Jacket, Wasp, Jocasta, Vision, and Wonder Man
• New York is plagued with an epidemic of "green flu", and even Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, and other heroes have caught it, or at minimum been exposed
• Leader has poisoned the city's water to turn everyone into variations of Hulk, including the woman he wants at his side, Dr. Keegan

Comics Corner: Deadpool 11

   

My birthday was packed full of outings, but the day got away from me. As such, I won't be posting anything about today until tomorrow.

Title: Deadpool

Highlights

• After going through a time portal, Deadpool and Blind Al land (literally) in the timeline of The Amazing Spider-Man issue 47
• Peter Parker was (retroactively) in the same science club as Weasle
• Deadpool disguises himself as *Peter Parker, and Blind Al as *Aunt May - Their disguised versions will be followed by a * below to differentiate between them and the real person
• Deadpool asks Harry Osborn if he's having a seizure when he talks to *Peter like  beatnik, while also pointing out the ridiculousness of Harry's hair
• *Aunt May sees the way Mary Jane acts, and thinks she's, "so young to be involved with the crack"
• *Aunt May says that Mary Jane is, "dumb as a post", and says that between her (Mary Jane), and her Aunt Anna, there would be enough brain power to toast bread
• Peter Parker makes a crack about how having a clone would be, "crazy talk"

Low Points

• While Deadpool and Big Al get back to their own timeline in the end, there's no epilogue to show the alternate future that the two of them created by running amuck around 1967
• Without an epilogue, the story feels like a joke without a punch line
• It had its funny moments, but overall, I wanted to enjoy this more than I did

Comics Corner: The Amazing Spider-Man 11

Title: The Amazing Spider-Man

Highlights

• Doctor Octopus returns
• Spider-Man invents and uses his first spider tracker
• Peter Parker wants to tell Betty Brant he's Spider-Man
• However, when Bennett Brant takes a bullet to the chest when Spider-Man and Blackie are fighting and dies, Betty shouts at our hero telling him how much she hates him
• Try as he might, Spider-Man still doesn't know how to beat Doctor Octopus

Low Points

• At this point in time of the Spider-Man series, Marvel doesn't seem to really know what to do with Doctor Octopus as a villain, regulating him to breaking Blackie out of prison for money
• Really? The guy's name is Blackie?
• We finally learn Betty Brant's secret and it's not worth the hype built up over the prior issues

Oddities

• Betty Brant's secret is that her brother owes a gambling debt to a mobster...who's in prison...and he's the attorney for...Huh? Just leave him in prison and say, "Have a nice day!"
• Doctor Octopus betrays Blackie in the end to take the money he was already going to get...plus a boat?
