We've covered a fair amount of Indiana Jones toys "HERE" at The Toy Box, so there's not a whole lot we can say about the franchise in general at this point - So we won't.
Around 2008 (or so), the world of collectibles went crazy with the inception of mini distorted figures. Funko and Hasbro have been cashing in on that craze for years now, and there's no signs that it's slowing down any time soon - Though Funko has certainly made more of a killing at it than Hasbro.
2008's Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs line helped to cement that craze with popular iterations of everyone's favorite whip wielding archeologist. Hasbro unfortunately didn't cover a lot of ground before they were off to more popular licenses, but they still managed to produce a fun assortment of mini figures.

Though numerous key players didn't get the chance to be imagined in vinyl, it was fairly exciting to see Hasbro give just a little bit of love to every Indiana Jones film.

It's true that we often times bash LJN for being a company that seemed to absolutely love destroying any licensed item they could get their hands on. However, there have been those rare occasions where even they got it right.
Though it was short lived, the 1984 line of figures produced for the film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom remained some of the best Indy figures of their time. The sculpting was fairly accurate in the faces, and the clothing was pretty spot on. We'd be lying if we said that these figures didn't look great.
Despite five figures and one playset initially being planned, only three of the figures actually made it to store shelves - Indiana Jones, Mola Ram and Giant Thuggee. Variant versions of Indiana Jones and Mola Ram are also know to exist which were sold at this time.

As you can see from the cardback above, the additional figures planned for this wave were Short Round and Willie Scott. Not shown is the planned mine cart playset which would have looked something like your typical plastic Hot Wheels track with duel loops - Though painted to look like a rail track. Production examples do exist of all three of these items, and in a 2012 eBay auction, hand painted resign cast prototypes of all five figures sold for $8,600.00.

Indiana Jones has had long lasting staying power in the here today gone tomorrow world of Hollywood. The character had his forth outing in 2008, prompting this all new line from Hasbro which celebrated each film in the series.
There were a massive amount of figures released between 2008 and 2011, and one could argue this is the definitive collection of Indy based figures produced to date. Sure, other releases have come and gone such as Kenner's vintage line based on Raiders, and the very short lived Temple of Doom ones from LJN. However, if you're looking for a place to get everything under one roof, then Hasbor's line is definitely what you're looking for.
Each figure contained an array of movie accurate accessories as well as a fair amount of articulation. What makes the line all the more intriguing is the fairly descent sculpting and spot on clothing design - Granted sculpted and painted clothing.

The Adventures of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (Kenner)
For the toy collector, there is something to be said about a small line of figures and vehicles. They're a fun "side project" of sorts which usually can be easily obtained, and typically at a low price.
In 1982, Kenner released a small but mildly successful line of toys based off of the film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The series ran for two waves, and even offered an exclusive mail away figure, which was later released as a carded figure in wave 2.
A handful of playsets were released as well as a twelve inch doll of Indie. Though not as successful as the figures when they initially launched, they have since become highly collectible items on the secondary market.

The series ran until 1983 when it was dropped. LJN would later pick up the rights to produce figures based off of the second Indian Jones film - The Temple of Doom. Several other companies, including Disney and Hasbro have since tried their hand at creating a successful series based on the whip wielding hero, but none have found extensive success.
