Highlights

  • Hyde goes on a rampage in the prison trying to get to Cobra
  • The end result of Hyde's destruction is breaking Cobra's restraints (accidentally), and the slithering villain jumping into the water outside the prison walls - Hyde follows
  • Reference is made to The Amazing Spider-Man 232, 250, 251, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man 76

  • Spider-Man and Black Cat come across the battling Hyde and Cobra in the streets of New York
  • Cobra begs Spider-Man to save him from Hyde, but then ducks out when the fight starts
  • Spider-Man once again tells Black Cat to back out of the fight, and she swears to herself it will be the last time
  • Black Cat jumps back into the fight, and immediately Hyde gets the upper hand

  • Cobra returns, this time in his villain costume, ready to stand his ground against Hyde
  • Cobra hits Hyde with multiple darts filled with cobra venom
  • Seeing Spider-Man hurt, and blaming herself for not having powers, Black Cat runs away
Low Points
  • One more issue, and I'll finally have pieced together the timeline of the series of recent issues
Oddities
  • Why does Spider-Man keep telling Black Cat one minute that they'll roam the city side by side, but then as soon as a fight starts, he tells her to get back

Comics Corner: Marvel Team-Up 88

Title: Marvel Team-Up
Issue Number: 88
Release Date: December 1979

Highlights

  • First appearance of Hole in the Wall Gang
  • We learn that Spider-Man, or rather, Peter Parker, doesn't know how to drive a car
Low Points
  • The cliffhanger ending from issue 87 doesn't pick up in this issue, and I don't know when or where it does
  • Generic crooks kidnap Sue Richard's son, and expect her to use her invisibility to break into a bank for them and rob it to get him back - Generic at its best
  • Story is very amateurish, nonsensical, and unbelievable, even from a fictional super hero standpoint
Oddities
  • Editor's Day Off - Several panels where Spider-Man's lenses are red
  • Sue Storm goes stag to ensure she's fully invisible
  • Spider-Man / Peter Parker quick change from street clothes to costume from panel to panel
  • The gang of thieves really think that kidnapping Sue and Reed's son will give them control over the Fantastic Four?
