Highlights

  • Death of Eslmelda and Ramone Valdez
  • The Lobo brothers bare down on Spider-Man, who is struggling with a wounded J. Jonah Jameson
    • They each grab on, and make their kill
      • Gloria Grant awakens in her apartment screaming from the nightmare
        • She thinks that Eduardo becoming a werewolf was also a dream
          • It's not - He perches on the other end of her bed in wolf form
  • Outside Gloria's apartment, Joy Mercado continues her stake out
  • Reference is made to Web Of Spider-Man 51, and The Spectacular Spider-Man 143
  • Spider-Man swings across the sky, headed to a warehouse to infiltrate a weapon delivery to the Lobo brothers
    • He got the information from the Arranger after reluctantly agreeing to help stop the gang war
      • Carlos Lobo is there in wolf form, and knocks Spider-Man through the wall, dumping him in the river
        • When he crawls out of the water, everyone is gone, and so are the weapons
  • Peter meets Flash Thompson and Harry Osborn for lunch, and learns that Flash has called them all together to reform the Spidey Appreciation Society (his club from high school) to help combat the recent smear campaigns in the Bugle
  • In prison, Robbie tells Bruiser how he got there, and in turn is told by the big man that prison has different rules
    • Bruiser tells Robbie to take off when some prisoners and Tombstone come up behind them
      • Bruiser makes short order of them, and as he's being hauled off to solitary, makes sure to tell Tombstone that he knows he won't dare touch Robbie while he's gone because even he needs to follow the rules
        • Fortunately, when Bruiser called Robbie his special friend, that didn't mean what I initially thought
          • Phew
  • Spider-Man meets with the Arranger and tells him that his mission to stop the weapons getting in the Lobo's hands failed
    • Arranger tells him he needs to try again, or be responsible for the innocent that will be hurt if a gang war errupts
  • Back in Gloria's apartment, she asks Eduardo why he didn't kill her, and instead of an answer gets his origin story, and why he's there to kill Kingpin
    • He admits he doesn't want to kill her becuase he loves her
  • Peter returns home, and confides in Mary Jane about the Arranger and upcoming gang war
    • Outside the room, Kristie Watson is eaves dropping, and the story ends on a cliffhanger narrating that she too has a secret that may kill her

  • First, and only appearance of Abraham Beame, 104th Mayor of New York City (1974-1977)
  • A mysterious homeless bum hides in alleys, only to soon be running for his life proclaiming things weren't his fault - Who is he? We'll find out in a later issue
  • Reference is made to The Amazing Spider-Man 140, and Giant-Size Spider-Man 2
  • Flash Thompson asks Harry Osborn to be his new roommate, and he accepts
Low Points
  • Shocker's plan, which we didn't learn about in the last issue, is nothing more than holding the city hostage for money
  • These past few issues have had no depth to them - Spider-Man is becoming a monthly serial, versus an ongoing series
