- The story picks up immediately where the last concluded, and the fight is on between Spider-Man and Magma
- Despite his mental retardation, Seth Hanks has an incredible mental capability to calculate advanced mathematical equations

- Spider-Man eventually withdraws from the fight, and returns as Peter Parker to intentionally be captured by Magma's men
- Peter helps Joy, Charla and her son Seth escape, but then pretends to slip and fall, drawing the guards to him while they get out
- Peter uses the opportunity to get back into action as Spider-Man, and go after Magma
- Joy gives the impression she knows Peter is Spider-Man, but doesn't come out and say it
- Spider-Man kicks Magma just as he fires his magma blaster, and the shot hits a series of energy projectors, sending a destructive chain reaction through the underground city
- Safely above ground, and helped by the military, Joy ponders if Peter is okay
- In a cliffhanger ending, the torn and burnt up Spider-Man costume lies in a heap, with no signs of Peter Parker
