World Of Springfield - Round Three

Today's round of World of Springfield figures consists mostly of the loose complete stuff I came across in the two boxes of toys. 

First up is a figure I was really disappointed wasn't among the carded ones, but ecstatic to find it loose and complete. Otto Mann is essential to my personal collection.

Groundskeeper Willie would have definitely been considered for my purchases, even if in the long run he might have gotten passed. Since he's here, complete and in good shape, I'll go ahead and add him to the collection.

The Pin Pal versions of the figures are definitely shaping up to be my favorites. I don't know what it is, but I'm leaning towards the awesome shirts with the logos on the back. I was happy as can be to find Mr. Burns hanging around the loose stuff with all his accessories.

Technically, this one isn't part of the World of Springfield series. Instead, it's from the Simpsons 25th Anniversary series from NECA. As you can see, the sculpting and size match perfectly to the original Playmates Toys versions.

Can anyone recognize who it is? Guess. Times up. It's Adam West!

Though Mascot Homer is complete, he'll probably be going back to the box as an unwanted figure. He's cool and all, but I'm trying to avoid being inundated with multiple versions of the same figures - with exception to the ones I really, really like. Pin Pals, for example.

If it weren't for that little black dot on Mayor Quimby's nose, this would have been an awesome and complete playset. I wouldn't be opposed to it if it weren't dead center on the figures face. It's all I see when I look at it.

To back track a bit, when I found the Burns Pin Pal figure was complete, I set to task on looking how many other versions there were for the team. Homer and Moe are the answer to that question. Before committing to any sales on ebay, I made the smart decision to rummage through the carded figures one more time and found...

Interestingly enough, unlike the other Pin Pal figures, Homer does not have a logo on his back. Still, with this one checked off, that leaves me with needing to track down Moe. Of course, he was an exclusive figure and not the cheapest as a result.

While perusing ebay, I did come across one of my favorite "B" characters, Grimey. He was pretty pricey, most likely because he is part of the last two waves, but I had to have him. He was packed in with a Nuclear Power Plant playset, so there was at least some bang for the buck there.

I'm trying not to get carried away with this line. However, it's a little challenging. I mean, come on. Look at this.

"Where's Moe," they ask me. What can I do? I've got to complete the set.

World Of Springfield - Round Two

I decided I would open up a few more figures from my World of Springfield purchase. For those of you who missed it, here's the link to Round One. That post encompassed the definite wants, while this post focuses on the secondary ones which initially were on a "maybe" pile. 

Up first is Smithers, counterpart to Mr. Burns.

The figure comes with a framed photograph of his boss, clipboard and removable glasses. 

Chief Wigum may very well be the worst cop in history.

It's a bit disappointing that only one of his hands was sculpted to actually be able to hold anything. Wiggum comes with a Styrofoam cup of coffee, police baton and a donut.

Ralph or his dad...Which one is less intelligent?

I really wished this guy came with mini carded Star Wars figures, as seen in the episode, Lisa's Rival. Instead, he comes with a Radioactive Man comic, stack of books, a rocket and a set of keys.

While Captain McCallister isn't one of my favorite characters from the show, I have to admit, it was the accessories which drew me to this figure. Specifically the pipe.

He comes with, obviously, a pipe, as well as, a harpoon and a canister of The Frying Dutchman Brand Tuna.

I told myself if I opened Lenny I would have to hunt down a Carl. There wasn't one in the box.

This actually turned out to be a rather disappointing figure. For starters, only one hand can hold one of his three accessories. However, this doesn't seem to matter, because when he is holding something, he falls over.

This just in, Kent Brockman joins my World of Springfield collection.

Kent comes with a microphone, a donut and clipboard.

Last up for today's carded figures comes from series one of the All-Star Voices sub series, Herbert Powell. Out of all of the guest voices, this particular character was always my favorite. Not because I particularly like Herbert himself, but rather Danny DeVito.

The figure comes with a briefcase, cell phone, clipboard and plans for the infant translator. I realized as I was posting this that the plans are actually upside down. Oops.

As I dug through the box of loose items, I came across a few more figures which were 100% complete. This was awesome because two in particular I really wanted. However, they were not among the carded ones. I'll post those up with the next wave of figures.

World Of Springfield - Round One

For those of you who saw my post from earlier this morning, this will be reoccurring series throughout the week as I open up a few World Of Springfield figures that I'm adding to my collection.

Monty Burns was the first figure I opened. This was actually one of the first figures that got me looking into more of the World Of Springfield line.

The figure comes with two individually sculpted stacks of money, as well as, a fishbowl with Blinky, the three eyed fish.

Fictional characters based in a fictional universe? Awesome. What's not to love about Itchy & Scratchy?

This two pack features a mallet and knife, which the two can use to mutilate each other.

And of course, you can't have Itchy & Scratchy without the lovable clown host who brings them to you each and every week, Krusty the Clown!

The clown prince of comedy comes with a video camera, a box of Krusty-O's cereal and three Krusty Burger food items, a burger, drink and fries.

Is he Homer's best friend or just another alcoholic hanging around Moe's? After thirty seasons, I still don't honestly know. One thing is for sure. Barney Gumbel is my favorite town drunk.

And who serves all those delicious alcoholic drinks to Barney? Nobody other than Moe Szyslak.

This figure comes with a rag, mug of beer, and an oddly out of place, telephone. I get it, the character answers a lot of calls during the show, but I don't think an entire phone was necessary as a pack in. Let alone a payphone that isn't attached to a wall.

Last up in today's round of carded figures is Grandpa Simpson.

This figure comes with two accessories, which admittedly, I don't really understand. A newspaper and magnifying glass? Huh? Because old people read newspapers and use magnifying glasses, since their eyes are bad? Like I said, I don't get it. He also comes with a pair of removable glasses.

As mentioned in my initial post, I got several loose items in my purchase. Out of all the playsets, only two or three were complete. These included...

As of now, I don't know that I'm going to keep all the figures I bought. For starters, I don't have the space for them. Secondly, I don't honestly want all of the figures from this line. If it's a figure I don't want, I'll still post photos of everything.
