A Toy Box Contest III

***You're running out of time to enter to win!***

Hello, and welcome to contest number three here at The Toy Box! Before we jump into this month's prize, let's first handle a little matter of who the winner was from last month.

Well, you're not going to believe this. I wrote everyone's names down on a separate piece of paper. Crumpled them all up. Tossed them around, and left them on my desk for about an hour or two. When my assistant passed by my office I said, "Hey, pick one of these." She grabbed one at random and handed it to me. As I unfolded the paper, I saw three letters, BBQ. Yup, Action Figure Barbecue has won again.

***UPDATE***

The prize from contest number two has been claimed.

I swear these contests aren't rigged in his favor. But, fair is fair. Action Figure Barbecue, you have seventy-two hours as of this post going live to leave a comment claiming the prize.

Alright...So, let's get on to our third contest. November's prize is a good one.

Yes, sir. One winner will be chosen at random to win the complete set of Target exclusive Cobra Island figures, including the mysterious Baroness with Cobra C.O.I.L. All brand new and in the box! WOW!

How do you win? Simple. Leave a comment with the name of the figure you want Hasbro to make for this line and why. Tell us all a quick story of why that particular character is important to you. Sorry, but it can't be one already made and / or already announced.

Entries will be accepted as of this post going live, and through 11:59 PM on November 30, 2020. The winner will be chosen at random and announced on December 1st, 2020. At that time, another contest will also go live.

You must be eighteen (18) or older to enter this contest. The winner will be announced at the beginning of the post for the next contest. At that time, the person will have seventy-two hours to leave a comment with their e-mail address, which will not be published, so that I can get in touch with them. We will work out the shipping arrangements from there.

Shipping is free and all entries across the globe are welcome. However, foreign addresses will be responsible for all applicable taxes and import fees on their end. The package will be declared at the full retail price of the prize on the customs forms.

Good luck to all!

  1. I'm the ghost with the most it would seem. Thanks to your assistant for a fantastic pick!

  2. And for my contest entry? You might think I'd pick Barbecue but I'm actually going to pick Lowlight. The DTC and Pursuit of Cobra versions were both ideal upgrades of the vintage figure but I'm really anxious to see how the Classified series upgrades Lowlight. He seems ripe for a very cool reinterpretation.

    1. The original Low-Light figure is a classic through and through!

    2. Agreed. Lowlight is a fantastic choice. Cool figure.

  3. How about Sgt. Slaughter & Refrigerator Perry? The sheer absurdness of a wrestler and football player being on America's premier counter-terrorism force just appeals to the cheese lover that I am.

    1. I hope they make a Slaughter figure. It's just not G.I. Joe without him. Fridge, I could personally take or leave.

  4. Hi!, I would like to see Hit & Run, for me this is one of the perfect Joes, I've always liked the camouflage, it was one of the first GI Joe figures in my collection, loved the accesories overall the duffel bag with the grappling hook, I imagine this figure with the GI Joe Classified treatment would be great.

    1. That would be a sweet figure. Hit & Run gets overlooked a lot in the vintage line.

  5. I'm gonna go with Super Trooper. That guy didn't the love he deserved. They could even add some vac metal elements in there as well! I remember saving up the special mail away tickets and then finally receiving it in the mail. It had to be one of my all time greatest Joe figure moments as a kid.

    1. I never got a Super Trooper as a kid. It was one of the many mail away promotions that my mom said, "No," to. I missed out on so many figures as a result.

  6. Zanzibar is my choice. Not many of them had rooted hair and although I doubt he'd have his "real" ponytail in classified, I think hasbro would still sculpt him a great noggin. Plus, not only was he a dreadnok but a pirate dreadnok! I used to swap his parts with other joes and get some pretty goofy creations

    1. Since I started my Joe collecting later than most kids, Zanzibar was actually one of the few Dreadnoks I had as a kid. I may have one day given him a haircut, but don't remember for certain. But yes, I too would like to have a Classified version.

  7. I'd go with Doc. After the initial shock and awe of the first wave, I wasn't expecting a second wave (didn't know they did that - without a movie). I was blown away by Snow Job, Airborne, Gung Ho, and Wild Bill. But my favorite was always Doc. We needed a medic and he had the stretcher and flare gun.

    1. If Alexis posts a comment, I'm guessing it's going to be Doc and / or Tunnel Rat that are mentioned.

  8. I loved Hardball! He was one of the first G.I. Joe figures I remember owning in '88, he came with that badass grenade launcher with rotating chamber and he was decked out in the colors of my favorite MLB team...the New York Mets! Would love to see an updated version of this Joe!!!

    1. I'm a fan of Hardball. If you look at my shelf photos of my Classified figures, you can see him hanging out in the back left in another cabinet.

  9. My choice would have to be Falcon. I know he's got a boring look but he has always been my favorite. Its because like my favorite Transformer (Hot Rod/Rodimus), he is flawed. I like those kind of characters. In the movie he gets his brother Duke killed, um er I mean put in a coma, due to being irresponsible. Not to mention letting Zarana on the base thinking she was just some hot girl. In the only other arc he was ever in in that era he was addicted to drugs. I like it when heroes show lack of judgement and learn from their mistakes. It makes them feel much more real.

    1. I dug Falcon back in the movie. He was the Joe that we could be. The new guy. Not refined. But trainable.

  10. Man so many amazing figures I am looking forward to.... Classic Storm Shadow, Nemesis Enforceer, Spirit; hopefully a Serpentor with Chariot box set!

But if I am picking one character I would really like to see I am gonna go with Dr Mindbender. I think he is the next guy needed in the Cobra hierarchy now that Zartan is on the way.

He has that old timey villain look, he pretty much supplants Destro as the number 2 featured Cobra character in Season 2 of the OG Sunbow series and the vest longcoat with a big ol' Cobra logo on the back should come off great in this line.

I wouldnt even mind if he came packaged with a Trouble Bubble.

  11. No one better than Sgt. Slaughter. He was always a favorite of mine as a kid -- even before I watched wrestling, or knew he was a wrestler! He was the Joe equivalent of Grimlock to me -- tough guy who could take anyone on (though smarter than Grimlock, of course!).
